Bruce Wood Dance Project – TOUCH – June 12 and 13

The DFW dance community lost an icon when Bruce Wood passed away just two weeks prior to his company’s season 4 opener, TOUCH.

TOUCH, an evening of new and encore performances by the Bruce Wood Dance Project, premieres this week, with performances on Thursday and Friday at 8PM at the Dallas City Performance Hall. At his family’s request, these performances will serve as a memorial in his honor.

Here at FurtherDance, we are indebted to Bruce. Many of our founding members and partners danced and worked with him, and his work was and continues to be a landmark in the Dallas-Fort Worth contemporary dance community. His vision and artistry inspire us to continue making a space for dance and dancers in our city.

In the days following his passing, many DFW arts critics and writers wrote or re-published moving works celebrating the art, spirit, and memories that Wood left behind. Here are the highlights:

Dances with Bruce Wood – Margaret Putnam

Bruce Wood – Manuel Mendoza

In Memoriam: Bruce Wood – Danna Wolfson
