Ballet Technique with Kim Abel
18 and older only
Kim Abel’s ballet class focuses on creating movement quality through alignment and refinement of technique in order to enhance naturalness of movement and develop individuality in performance. It is based on the concepts and teaching of Maggie Black, with whom Kim studied for 20 years, and is relevant to all genres of dance.
Kim has been a ballet master for the Eglevsky Ballet, Edward Villella and Dancers, New Jersey Ballet, Ballet Oklahoma, North Carolina Dance Theater, and the Pennsylvania and Milwaukee Ballet. Kim has taught company class for American Ballet Theater, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Christopher Wheeldon’s Morphoses, Bruce Wood Dance Company, Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Twyla Tharp dancers, and for the TITAS Fete du Ballet gala. Kim is a consultant with the dance department at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and continues as a guest teacher at Steps on Broadway in NYC.
