Thanks for a great class everyone!

Susan Douglas Roberts is the artistic director of wild goose chase, a project-based company located in both Texas and Maine. Her work has been presented across the US and in Mexico, Central and South America, Taiwan, and Europe, most recently at the Centre National de la Danse Contemporaine in Angers (France).

As a dance-maker, she is curious about the details that bridge choreographed and lived experience, and frame the choices that performing artists make on stage. Dance writers have called her work “elegant,” “mysterious,” and “witty and winsome.” Recent honors include Fulbright Specialist Awards to Taipei National University of the Arts (Taiwan) and Centro de Danza e Investigación del Movimiento at the Universidad Rafael Landívar (Guatemala).  In 2014, she served as an adjudicator for the Northwest Conference of ACDA.

As a teacher, Susan is interested in working with dancers to create clear, physically informed, instinctual choices in the moment, through motion. She moves dancers toward bone-deep, functionally driven dancing with a focus on multi-potentiality, detail and sensory experience. Susan is on faculty in the School for Classical & Contemporary Dance at TCU (Fort Worth TX) where she teaches technique, composition, teaching methods, and Pilates.

Class Description: Honoring classicism, drawing attention to a blend of abandon and conscious restraint, and paving the way for clarity, we will move into the new year riding breath and breadth.  Let’s dance.
